Removing Vicky Crud... Should I Shouldn't I?

Nikon Valued Member Canada 185 Posts	Posted 08/05/2017 10:44 am I know how to with a rose thorn or a s toothpick. but I have seen comments on the Grading forum that if you do then the coin is considered cleaned. so does removing the "vicky crud" give it a cleaned grade? okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5595 Posts	Posted 08/05/2017 12:02 pm Unless it's a scarce variety, the act of cleaning out "Vicky crud" and having a coin graded don't fit in the same sentence. A coin that is XF or above rarely would have any crud and anything below that grade makes little sense to have it TPG'd. Even with a hawthorn or rose thorn, you have to be very careful, because the extremely sharp point can EASILY scratch a coin. Report this Post to the Staff
papeldog Pillar of the Community Canada 1923 Posts	Posted 08/05/2017 12:54 pm Like Okie has mentioned be very careful and take your time with thorns they work great but use them lightly as they will scratch your coin. I use them thorns with Q-tips not to wipe but dap have lots graded with no comments on holders with all the top grading companies Report this Post to the Staff
