This is the second time that I have ever used my metal detector. The first time was around my in-laws' house and I found a M-1 Carbine cartriage, a .33 cartriage, and a 50 cal cartriage all from the Korean War period.

This time I went out on a vacation with my family to the East Sea and found just under 2,000 won in coins at the beach. Below are some pictures and a video. If you all could give me tips on how to better my detecting at the beach that would be great!

Cool looking coins.

I just did the conversion and it's $1.77 in USD.
Good luck next time!

Very nice find on the cartridges. Especially if you collect those kind of things. How corroded were they?

A hand full of coins of any kind would thrill most diggers. Nice bunch.

Not bad at all. They had been sitting in relatively soft dirt in a yard of a house that hasnt been used since the war it seems. I was able to get all the dirt off and find all the markings to date them and find out where they were made. When I get home I'll post them up here on this forum as well. The three cartiages were made during WWII but were shipped here to supply the war in Korea.

Thank you @Coconutjoe. I found much more than I expected and got really lucky at one spot. I can't wait to get back out to the beach again.

Excellent finds! The best money is free money.

I don't detect (yet) but my only suggestion is (if you don't already do it), carry a bag to collect the trash finds to dispose of them properly instead of leaving them on the beach.

It's like paid volunteer work!

@spruette001 I actually did just that. In one of the parts in the video you can see a black plastic bag tied to my belt and its swinging at the bottom of the frame. I picked up like 30 soju bottle caps that day! In the video I left the cap on the sand to show the difference in sound. I figured if someone came out to yell at me, I'd tell them I was just cleaning up the public beach. :)

because they wave motions sort out weights sizes etc detect up and down the beach in a few places (with dunes behind you down to the water and back up) as you find a few coins move along the beach a bit more do the same up and down the beach after a few times doing this stand back and look at where your targets were found and then follow that contour line along the beach ... will increase your finds a lot

Ahh man that is excellent! Thanks @oindarwin. I was really considering going down to the sand where the waves crash. I just thought that coins wouldnt drop there since everyone is normally in a bathing suit without change in their pockets. Is this not the case?
