I have checked RSC and Sear (2000) RCV and have not found your coin. I found close variations but not your coin with the dolphin tripod reverse and the COS VII DES VIII PP reverse legend. The examples in RSC and SRCV have a different reverse legend. Unless I am missing something I think you have quite a rare coin.

Not my area of interest but they look like high quality examples of desirable coins.

Always great to complete a set even if you want to upgrade one still.

Congratulations.

To all who shared comments in this thread, thank you for having enough interest to say so. Your words are much appreciated, as is your continuing interest. Best of all is your fellowship in the hobby.

Sorry for the delay in responding, orfew, but I often don't check in on Sundays, particularly when I'm the preacher. Thank you for digging into the questions about that coin of Domitian, I was sure you would know what to do with it. You have convinced me to get the new version of RIC II, which I have now ordered. The rarity scales have been so badly misused and even abused by sellers, that I have tended to disregard them. However, they do serve a purpose when one is trying to differentiate between an unauthorized hybrid or a rare mint type. That is the nature of the problem with this coin, and one cannot have too many references to throw light on the problem.

I've been meaning to reply to this thread, but always forget to come back when I'm done changing my pants!

Stupendous coins, and I don't think I could pick a favorite!

@lrbguy

Happy to help. I believe you will enjoy owning RIC II. Not only is it the most up to date catalogue of the Flavian era, it also has lots of really interesting information on these rulers and their coins. The plates are also very useful. I have found much joy in the many hours I have spent with the book. I really enjoying tracking down references. I guess that makes me a little strange but that is okay.
