I have a guy.. He has won 5 auctions from me but has not paid. The earliest one being four days ago. I don't know what his deal is and I am careful not to harass people becuase they can always just pay only to return later. So my question is if a week goes by and he has not paid can I cancel the transaction, ban him, without receiving a ebay deffect?

Send an invoice now and then, if they don't pay, file a NPB after 7 days. You block them, not ban, and ebay applies a "defect" to their account.

BH1964 has it right. Our ability to have instant delivery, orders from our phones and tablets, and answers to almost any question from those sources has killed that thing called patience.
But patience is still a virtue. Especially when you might have a great buyer.

Some people are just slow. Give it a couple more days.

Recently had a guy make an offer on am item, which I accepted. He did not pay for several days. After about a week I sent a nice email saying it's ok if you don't want it, just let me know.... He paid the next day. I made the sale, and kept the customer with patience. Not saying that will always work out like that, but it does happen.

Ping the buyer and let her/him know you're expecting payment before reaching out to ebay. S/he has selected 5 items for purchase, they may be waiting for an invoice.

Chill. Simply send a second invoice. Sometimes real life rears its head and trivial matters such as ebay take a back seat.

Open the nonpayment case as soon as you can, it takes something like 3 days and then another four of being opened. If you cancel it and close through that method you won't get a defect. Everyone understands that they don't have to pay the second they win but there is no excuse not to have paid days later and not even so much as sent a message as to why Quote: Especially when you might have a great buyer. A great buyer would pay for what they win in a timely manner.

Just be patient. Do open an unpaid case claim against him, and he will usually pay.

Yeah, I fall more on the 'patient' side when it comes to buyers. If a couple of invoices don't work, send an email or two. Open a case if all else fails.

Quote: A great buyer would pay for what they win in a timely manner. I give existing clients 30 days... Lots of people are on fixed incomes or need to wait for paychecks or other situations... Patience is definitely advised... For the most part, I try to avoid doing ebay stuff on the weekends outsides of what I absolutely need to do. My bids are set, and sometimes, I don't pay until Monday morning back at the office. Earlier this year, I won an auction on a Friday night, and by Sunday night, had received several ebay messages demanding payment, the last one rather nasty. You can bet I never dealt with that seller again...

Quote: I give existing clients 30 days I find that to be insane. Of course individual arrangements can be made with communication between buyer and seller, but with no communication that is beyond crazy to me to wait anywhere close to that long. I don't have a problem with people who do nothing with it on the weekend. Most sellers wouldn't ship on a Saturday for a Friday night win anyway and 99% of them would be happy to be paid on Monday.
