I hope that is on the outside of the Mylar. If not, well, acetone will remove it. Remember, it is not a J-Ike. It is a J-Buck.

I don't think I have anything that would be more than 3 points (and nothing good pictured) so nothing from me this round. I'm surprised nobody else has a $3 gold?

Quote: I'm surprised nobody else has a $3 gold? I imagine there are a lot of folks on this forum with $3 gold pieces, just not on this thread. I do have a coin worth 5 points (1866 dollar), and I'm surprised nobody else posted a 5-point coin. Anyway, point standings so far:
bd251 - 4 (1st entry)
Arkie - 4
jbuck - 4
Arkie - 4 (or 5, see jbuck's post)
bungle - 4
jbuck - 4
Joseph7420 - 3
Dorado - 3

The time for new entries for this round has expired. Based on the above point compilation, it looks like either bd251 (1st with a 4-point coin) or Arkie (with a possible 5-point "tiebreaker" coin) has won.
I'll have to defer to the powers-that-be on this thread to declare the actual winner.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing some more obscure coins, perhaps from the Grand Principality of Ryazan, the Almohada Caliphate, or the Bishopric of Dorpat, for example.

At this point I am posting for 2 reasons..
1: so this thread shows up on my feed when anything new is posted... 2: to share that I think this is one of the most interesting and entertaining threads I have read through in a LONG LONG time..
So many interesting coins, such a variety... it's been fun reading this thread to this point watching this game really evolve!
*thumbs up to all who have participated!*

I would have had a 4-pointer but it missed the date-range cutoff by 3 years (1881 Morgan). Otherwise, many easy 3-pointers that wouldn't have been good enough.

I wanted to post a 3+ pointer (dateless With Rays Shield nickel - minted 1866-67, but the date is worn away on my example). I would still not have won, however.

I'll also cast my vote for Arkie for posting gold (also closer to the date).
Agreed, I am glad this thread is starting to take off!

I agree that Arkie's coin is the closest match of all the dollars. Not only is it gold, like the challenge coin, but its also closer by date. Is this how ties for <6 points will be broken (closest match)? I think its the best way

I concur with the choice. Arkie should win the round. It was my idea after all.

I gave up early in this thread because I don't have anything as old as where we started. Popped in to see what's going on, just in time to miss the $3 gold (I just got one last week, 1878). Maybe next round.
