I understand you, but it had barely been half a week. Can we at least wait for the next half (the one with the weekend) to also pass before continuing?
Maybe someone here has a more precise match and just hadn't noticed the thread so far.

January, I think that we thought that 3 days was enough time, to keep it moving and maintain the interest.
I will let others decide, but they would have to get the EXACT coin now to have a better match than we have already. This, you must admit, is not very likely.

A reply time like three days will keep the thread moving and more active which will attract more players. Then at some point, we will have to start considering who posted an exact match first to declare a winner.

I understand, I just thought that it's a bit dishonest to run the challenge over the part that's not a weekend (actually, is CCF activity higher or lower on weekends? I'm not sure if anyone ever counted).
If you're really certain that nobody who happened to be busy until Saturday or Sunday will show up with a closer match, then, sure, okay.

When I'm on, usually the evenings/nights, weekends seem to be a little less active.

I am short of time right now and it would take two days to extract my few Yemen coins from their storage so this round is gonna be a pass for me.
*Hopefully* the chaotic, ever changing rules and guidelines will settle down soon to something that everyone can understand and agree on.

I am still not sure if I have the "OK" to post my coin now. January? Shall I go ahead?

I think it is okay to move on after three days of being idle if it has been seven since the challenge was posted.

The last "contender" was posted over 4 days ago. I think it's time to move on. This topic is in serious danger of failing. I really like the idea, though, and hope it stays alive.

For our challenge, I have selected a coin of the bishopric of Bamberg, dated 1766. It is denominated 5 kreuzer, or a 240th of a fine mark. I feel a bit guilty leaving our collectors of American coins at somewhat of a disadvantage, but on the other hand it IS supposed to be a challenge. And we must remember that the objective is to get the BEST match, and the point scheme all but guarantees that someone will get a point. So the point scheme is as follows: 1. Country: Bamberg. The approximate country is Bavaria, since Bamberg was absorbed by Bavaria. 2. Year: 1766. Approximate year is any year during the reign of Bishop Adam Friedrich Graf von Seinsheim, 1757-1779. 3. Denomination: 5 Kreuzer OR a 240th of a fine mark. Approximate denomination is anything denominated in Kreuzer or any in any fraction of a fine mark, but not a whole mark or multiples thereof. The winner will be announced after 3 days.

2 points for Arkie! You didn't say, but your second coin is 20 Kreuzer. So we will definitely have a winner.
