I like that idea.

I call the contest over with Hondo Bogus the winner by a good margin.
Thanks to all who entered.

Thank you, ttkoo, for an excellent contest!
I like triggersmob's idea of "fewest words" but that presents challenges as to what a word is and what a coin is.
For instance, this Thailand Fuang (1/8 Baht) has neither words nor numerals - only a pictogram.
Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!
A more traditional coin is this Austria 10 Heller 1915 which has no words - only a numeric denomination and date.
Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!
The contest is to post a coin with the fewest written characters - either numbers or letters. 1 point for each character, and the lowest total wins. For example, the 10 Heller above would score a 6.
A few stipulations for your entries:
- Only actual coins may be entered - no notgeld, tokens, medals, or any other type of exonumia.
- It must have been minted within the last 1000 years because I have little knowledge of ancients.
- Pictograms, morphemes, Hŕnzě, etc. will be scored as the English translation shown on Numista.
- Alphanumeric mint marks count the same as other letters or numbers, but privy marks do not.

A very challenging request from Hondo Bogus.

I think my lowest character coin is a 1738 Denga from Russia
It has 9 characters
It is not the prettiest coin, so here is a link to Numista for a similar coin.

I think you could go down to 1 or 2 characters with Swedish Copper Plate money, or Chinese/Japanese coins.
