Those are good images, oh how I wish I could find a 1964 SMS nickel. Never saw one. If these come back as SMS slabs, I sure would like to see them in the holders.

Hey fioti, heritage has the list of die markers for the Lincoln Cent. You can also just google 1964 sms penny die markers, then do an image search and you'll find them. There are several die scratches on the reverse, in between the columns to the left of where he's sitting and a few more die scratches around the E Pluribus unum if I remember correctly. I also noticed what might be a marker but I haven't found any information about it anywhere yet. Look at the two pennies on PCGS's website and check out the one that sold for $11k and the one that sold for alittle over $9k. There are two small crater looking spots on lincolns upper shoulder right below the big crease in his suit.. mine has it as well but it isn't on every example so who knows?...

@ TheNickelGuy- haha thanks man. If it comes back certified as what I'm hoping it is, I will personally drive it out to you and let you see it lol

It's very difficult to tell by my pictures but I'm telling you if you saw them in person you would be more confident about what they were. I sent them to a rare coin dealer in Biloxi Ms after I studied and researched everything I could about them for about a month or so and when he told me that he felt very strongly that they were the real deal that's when I went ahead and sent them to PCGS... even if they come back as nothing special, I still learned a good bit along the way lol

This is where I respectfully disagree with Coinfrog. You just don't mess around with coins at this price point without certification. If it comes back real, (which from what I've seen, it will), the PCGS slab will do nothing but add money to your pocket.

Only thing bothers me is that I don't think that 1964 special mint coins were issued in "sets" like we think of with 1965, 1966 and 1967 special mint sets.
I just want to see these great images again when they are certified in the slabber-ooos.

I would say that the fingerprint on the Kennedy obverse kills it for me, but the PCGS example coin has one also. I'm hoping that they come back as the special strikes for you. To me they look just like slight die variations, but for those obsessed, they would be keys.

what I'm wondering is if the coin displays the die scratches on the reverse and also has the raised teardrop under the crosslet of the 4, then is it a sms 100% without a doubt because that's how I understand the identification process works based on what I've read on PCGS and other Similar websites.

Does anybody know someone personally, or know how I could contact/email somebody that has experience with these? It sure would help me out. I would be very appreciative if someone could spread the word around that I'm looking to personally contact an expert or at least someone that's seen them in person.

Here are a few side by sides for diagnostic die comparisons.. my coin is on the left and the PCGS coin is on the right. I thought showing them this way would be the best way for everyone to see why I thought it would be worth a shot to send them to PCGS. I'm working on getting the comparisons of the other coins at the moment so I'll post them as I go. I appreciate anyone taking the time to look at them and chime in.

Here's the rest of the side by sides of the quarter. I'll try and finish the other coins by tommorow afternoon and get them posted.
