It's a small date zinc business strike from philly. Zinc will weigh appx. 2.3g and copper will weigh appx. 3.5g

*with tolerable variation

Appx. Means approximately-which means 'around' or 'thereabouts'. It's an educated estimate. Plus. I just weighed about 300 uncirculated copper 1982's and over half of them were 3-3.3g. Ultimately, a lot of coins are going to be off (up or down) a tenth or two-which is why I said appx. EDIT: tolerable variation = approximation  Edited by Redifin

If it does apply to zinc cents, 2.3g is below tolerance and 3.5g for copper is above tolerance. That's why I posted the standard weights for each. Another easy way to tell a zincolns is the flow ring of worn dies, seems to make a very distinct ring on a plated planchet more than a solid copper one...IMHO ?
