Thank you all for your replies. I was looking to purchase this as a filler, though after reading the comments, I think I will pass. This coin has been graded by ICG EF40-Details, VAM1, Repaired. The asking price is $3,795.00. I have never come across a Morgan like this.

umm..no expert with these are the but is the obverse die marker all you can use to say this is for sure real? I mean look all over this coin, especially above the LL in DOLLAR..there are bubbles everywhereeeee! is that not a sign of a fake?
Feel free to call me Will.

It was an 1893. It was repaired to add the missing S.
j/k Lots of smoothing and maybe reengraving. Something may have been removed from the cheek, like grafitti, and smoothed over.

Well, the mint mark is plainly tilted. Therefore, if it's real, it's VAM-2. If ICG couldn't get that right with only two to choose from, only one of which has a tilted mint mark, can you really trust their opinion of authenticity?
It may well be real. I haven't inspected the features which I doubt in-hand. Not a snowball's chance I'm throwing $3800 at it to find out; it may be the least-liquid 1893-S I've ever seen.

This is a classic example of the old "lipstick on a pig" saying!
The asking price of $3795 is absolutely ridiculous.

Quote: Looks re-engraved around the mouth, chin, & eye. I agree 100%. I'm no expert but IMO, it's a damaged genuine.
