Quote:If any dealer sells that 5 ounce penny on its own, I will be very angry. It is in writing on the RCM site as well as CC&C that this penny comes with the wooden box at the end of the 7 coin subscription. As per past experience with RCM - every coin belongs to any subscription - was available as single. (Even overpriced 2012 / 2013 Fab 15 coins have been offered as singles by reps couple of years ago). Pay attention - no dealer exept RCM and CC&C posted this statement (am I wrong?) I would expect, with 95% probability, the Penny will appear as single (not in RCM though) and people will hunt and load it. **I remember, the 2015 Big Coins - I contacted my ex rep and he simply said " RCM will not sell singles. Dealers - have no idea".

@New1954 if you think anything in writing on the mints website means anything check out the 3rd and final coin of the Call of the Wild Series and then see the 4th coin of the series. I called it quits after these LIES by the RCM. edit to say: I wrote them an email stating my disappointment then I get phone calls from the RCM telling me they will give me a $200 credit which I used towards the forgotten series and will never buy a thing from them again. If all these subs sell out, you can almost be sure there will be a cheap colour version then a 2018 version because simply we keep buying them. The RCM and their dealers are masterful marketers, not a chance they will sell the penny alone, what would you do with the rest of sub if sold separately

The TSC host last night said the individual coins had a mintage of 1500 and the penny, "much less than that". And they never exaggerate (mislead) on the TSC. Right? I could see smaller coin dealers and the two ebay dealers buying the sub, selling the first 6 individually and then selling the penny separately. Then selling the box as icing on the cake.

We will wait and see what happens to the penny in this subscription. I keep hearing from Bromberg that the penny in this series will probably have the lowest mintage because it only comes with the wooden box at the end when subscription is complete, which means that it does not come in the clamshell or graphic sleeve like all the others before it will. For sure, all the other denominations will be offered as singles for sale by dealers; however, this is what is written "The key to this subscription is the penny because it will only be sold with the sub"! If they lie, I will definitely call them on it and I am not quiet about "LIES". I have had many disputes with RCM and I always win when I feel that I have been wronged.

I have no problem with dealers buying the sub and then selling the penny with the wooden box. Maybe that is why The Coin Shoppe is only offering the subscription in order to qualify for the last coin which is the penny and the wooden box. These dealers still have to unload the coins that are issued in between the release of the penny to qualify for it.
I am okay with this. If the voyageur goes up in price and the penny goes up, at least some of the in between coins' cost will be covered by these two.

@john100, agree! Especially after comments on TSC about 2018 NHL 125 anniversary coins (pre-sales masterful marketing is such a joy to behold).

Quote: not a chance they will sell the penny alone, what would you do with the rest of sub if sold separately This is the last coin. They have 6-7 month minimum till it appearance to sell as much as many subscriptions and singles. Let's say (in theory) all the 1500 Voyageurs will be sold, 500 in subscriptions and 1000 as singles. This means, that will be max 500 subscriptions. Will RCM mint only 500 Big Penny coins, knowing that the demand is greater than this? I still think, they will try to "push" out maximum as possible of everything. Quote:Will RCM mint only 500 Big Penny coins, knowing that the demand is greater than this? so if this will happen - absolutely not smart move of the Mint, but probably good for collectors who obtained the rarity. Until the colorized or similar (white gold? black gold? ) will be issued.

No doubt the penny will surface solo in 11 months ( which by then the hype with be fully faded out) I would think the more sought out coin is the initial voyageurs coin for this series though as the penny already had its big 5oz moment before- This is the voyageurs big coin moment- Hopefully we don't see it in colour next year - The big penny in colour would also be sacrilegious

So if there are no single penny available, then the mintage has to be less than 1500, the number of subs minus the single coins of the other units in the set or the RCM is playing with the mintage

Wouldn't that mean there are more than 1500 Voyageur coins...what if all the subscriptions sell and then add on the single sales. Would that mean the penny would have a mintage of 1500 and the voyageur something over that?

It simply means that the max for each coin is 1500.
If 1000 subs sell then 500 will be singles of each coin; whereas the penny will only have 1000 mintage. I think that is how it works.

So there's a possibility that all the other coins (with the exception of voyageur and the penny) could have a smaller mintage....

I have no clue if they produce each coin all at one time or if they do it in batches. Maybe someone with more inside info can explain.

We will see, very tough to guess. In any way, the max for each coin should be 1500. And if ALL Voyageurs will be sold (singles and subs), at this point will be known (to RCM) amount of the subscriptions. [I am not counting complex possibility, when dealer orders singles plus wooden cases, and later sells it as subscription] But in any case to try to sell less than 1500 for Penny (or any other coin) will be very strange.
