For my experience of past several months, I don't think plating imperfections matter.
I personally haven't seen a coin with perfect plating.
If my understanding is correct, your coin can still be graded as 70, even though the plating is not perfect.
As long as the plating imperfections are minor, I wouldn't return the coin.

A 70 graded coin is perfect, how can off plating not affect grade ? These are suppose to be perfect made NCLT made with a super slow press and a one on one production process through out, if they are not send back they will strike you a new one.

Well, that's my interpretation.
From Wikipedia about Mint State 70:
"The perfect coin, as minted. Has no trace of wear, handling, scratches or contact with other coins from a (5x) magnification. Coins in this grade are almost non-existent in older coins with very few examples known. Copper coins are bright with full original color and luster. Eye appeal is exceptional."

They are not errors but imperfections. I got the same thing on my coin from Canada Post.
Unless they are imperfections very obvious to the naked eye there is no point on returning them as you may get another imperfection in another place.
You will always find some sort of imperfection when using a magnifier.

You pay550.00 bucks for a near perfect coin, not a so so version. would you buy a brand new car with over spray

@MoneyPenney: Would you return the coin I received if you were in my shoes?

The number '77' appeared! And the coin extremely nice in hand (all of us should order at least one).
Well, will wait for the member, who posted description very artistically way. Ok Silveroid, you asked for it. lol "I got lucky COA 77. They must have been going backwards because I bought just after you. : - ) The relief is higher than expected, the details are striking, and I like that the figures in the canoe are darker, which creates a beautiful contrast. Maybe I watch too many movies, but it almost looks as if they're going to paddle right off the edge of the coin...lol I can't stop admiring it."

Thank you, Looney
Btw, on the pictures, even the coin with some small flaw looks great. The close up zoom showcases the relief

Quote: @MoneyPenney: Would you return the coin I received if you were in my shoes? I can't speak for you because I don't know your tolerance for defects. If it bothers you a lot, return it. If I receive that coin I probably will keep it since it is bare noticeable under the naked eye. I did get a coin similar to CoinCuanucks94. I did not even know of the defect until it was pointed out to me because you need magnification to see it. I probably will keep it.

Thank you @MoneyPenney. I like your advice that "unless they are imperfections very obvious to the naked eye there is no point on returning them".
Under normal circumstances, I would have no hesitation to return the coin for a replacement. But given that it is no longer available from Canada Post, and being sold at a premium elsewhere, I am attempting to weigh the pros & cons. My options are: - keep the coin at issue price - return the coin to CP, and buy at a premium and hope to get a "better" coin - return the coin to CP, and not own the coin
I am leaning towards returning the coin. I still 4 days to decide before the 10 calendar day return period lapses for CP online purchases.
Cue Jeopardy music...

It is 10 days to get a RMA, then you have 30 days before the RMA expires. So you have 30 days to think about it before sending it back. Should you decide to keep it, just let the RMA expire.

Gatewest - back to issue price for 5oz as single - really nice coin but perhaps sign of buyer fatigue

Yes, probably people have enough nice and expensive 5oz coins. But interesting: it shows, that in entire world, there are no 1500 people, who will be interested in this coin for issue price. While, surely will be more than 1500 people owning for example more then 1 colored TV set, or more than 1 car edited by moderator to be appropriate

Coloured tv? Aren't they all colour now? And slaves? I'm pretty sure nobody I know has any. Or ever did. I don't understand the comparisons. Perhaps the RCM can't sell 1500 units because of the high price, poor customer service, poor rewards program, depreciation in value before the coin even arrives, etc.
