1954 mintage: 6.6 million, 1966 mintage: 9 million. Both worth no more than a dollar over BV in Fine.

KurtS I'm confused, because I thought The Swisses stopped making silver coins before 1950, so when did the Swisses stop making Silver coins ?

Sap Thanks for the info, but the only reason really that I posted this up is because I saw this very same coin on coin archives and it has it up for $2900 as an error. If there is an Interpretation for what they have on it, would be nice to know why.

I wasn't in Switzerland when silver coins were circulating, but my Krause says Swiss coins of 1/2 Fr. to 5 Fr. denom were .8350 silver until 1967.

Btw, I saw that link above, which reads:
"5 Franken 1954, 70° verdreht. 14,97 g. Richter A98. äusserst selten. Bis heute das zweite bekannte Exemplar. Sehr schön. "

Translation: "5 Franks, 1954, rotated 70° [..etc...] Very scarce. At this time only two examples known. Very beautiful." I'm sure the 70° rotated die is what makes this particular coin valuable--the realized price of CHF 3600 is added value of the error. The normal coin should be "medal alignment".

Was going through a bag of old coins today and found I have a Swiss 5 Franks, 1954B, rotated 180°. It is in very fine condition and the raised lettering is still sharp. Any idea what the value of a coin like this would be?
