KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 05/04/2008 2:06 pm I wasn't in Switzerland when silver coins were circulating, but my Krause says Swiss coins of 1/2 Fr. to 5 Fr. denom were .8350 silver until 1967. Btw, I saw that link above, which reads: "5 Franken 1954, 70° verdreht. 14,97 g. Richter A98. äusserst selten. Bis heute das zweite bekannte Exemplar. Sehr schön. " Translation: "5 Franks, 1954, rotated 70° [..etc...] Very scarce. At this time only two examples known. Very beautiful." I'm sure the 70° rotated die is what makes this particular coin valuable--the realized price of CHF 3600 is added value of the error. The normal coin should be "medal alignment".
