Though I personally agree that one shouldn't polish coins as it destroys value (as dictated by the market) it ultimately at the discretion of the owner to do whatever they feel appropriate with their coins. I don't think you need to justify your actions to anyone. If polishing a coin produces results that are more pleasing for you than do it. From what I've seen, most of the coins you've posted here are fairly low value so it's not as scary to polish them. Do you have any examples of high dollar value coins that you've polished/cleaned in the past that have benefited from you doing so?

That's some beautiful material. You have impeccable taste wcg - thanks for sharing. Are all of these certified? Are the pics trueview or your own photography?
I had a three coin shipment arrive from Italy today with gems I've been chasing for a good while; I'll post pics tomorrow, stay tuned!

Thanks guys. I try my best to get decent pictures, but they typically fall flat. These were all done by Todd at BlueCC (www.bluccphotos.com). He sets up at the major ANA shows in the US and does on-site imaging. Cost is low and result always exceeds expectations. I stick mainly with certified pieces, but I have found some great raw pieces in German auctions over the years. Salzburg Taler 1781 NGC-MS64 Eichstatt Taler, German States Sede Vacante 1757 NGC MS-63 Regensburg Taler, German States Cityview 1756 NGC AU-55 Munster, German States Death Taler,Bbishop Friedrich-Christian von Plettenberg 1706 NGC AU-58 Wurzburg, German States Sede Vacante Medal (44 mm taler size) 1795 PCGS SP-63 You might argue that this one is not technically a crown, and you would probably win that argument. I included because there are some amazing medals issues during this period struck on planchets with very similar sizes as standard talers. Probably a good theme for a separate thread.
