I too am in favor of this idea. A modest $50 (less than $1/week) annual membership that grants access to the entire site seems more than reasonable. Forget the knowledge offered on this site, it's worth a buck a week for entertainment value alone.

As stated before I absolutely cannot do that. It will not work at all. Members will just go elsewhere and this place will die. Most people that are terrified.... offended... or whatever of a few extremely non intrusive ads are not going to fork out $50 a year, they will take their adblockers and go milk some other forum.

Also as I've stated before several times, the place is not in danger of going under as we've stopped paying the mortgage.

I think that a *mandatory* paid membership would probably do more harm than good. We have a lot of YN's here who might not necessarily have the means to contribute in that way. However, I do think that giving perks such as larger upload limits to paid members would be a good incentive.

Also, I have decided to self-impose a seller's fee on my future sales here. I've already hit my active sale limit but have a lot more to list; perhaps we could amend the rules for sellers who are willing to chip in - say 5% of sale price minimum? I know we don't want to become ebay 2.0 here, but I would happily sell on here to help Bobby, rather than ebay to line the pockets of those fat cats. Just a thought.

If you haven't done so this year, now is a good time to consider a donation to CCF if you can afford it. Anything helps.
