1995 Kennedy Half Error - How Did This Happen? - Explained!

tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6108 Posts	Posted 10/25/2017 09:30 am I have had this Kennedy for a while and thought maybe I could get some help learning what happened here. Coin is in B/U condition (the parts that aren't screwy) and has a fully reeded rim. Rim has a small crack through it at the T in States and coin shows what looks like massive Strike Doubling in places. The big hunk of copper stuck by the eye may be a clue. Help appreciated. The coin was double-struck, with the first strike in-collar and the second out-of-collar. The coin was struck through "grease" (with some of the black crud retained) and small fragments of copper (also retained). Neato! Error coin writer and researcher.
