Mom has shingles presently....stinks. so I didn't bother her. So about the GSA Carson City Morgans.....They seem to be in varying grades? Some look much better than others? Are those worth grading? Been reading up....interesting stuff. But no less complicating. I have the Buffalo nickels to keep me busy...... Such a pretty coin, didn't wear well though. So many are dateless. Just went though a few hundred. A third no date...gone, a 3rd partial and the overwhelming majority from the 30's. two from the teens. My eyes hurt.

The GSA Morgans are worth grading if you are going to sell. Do not remove from plastic and send them to NGC as they will grade the coin in the GSA plastic. Do you have any dates other than 82CC, 83CC or 84CC?

I got the shingles shot about two years ago it hurt so much I thought my are was going to fall off. I wish your mom well and a speedy recovery.
The GSA will sell without grading but if your have grades MS64 or above, it will maximize your dollars when selling.

I was looking at your 1893 commemorative half dollar Columbian Expo and the coin has been cleaned and in AU condition.

Thanks have another Columbian Expo but its in a little worse shape, guess it hasn't been cleaned. Just looked at it again, it wasn't even cleaned that well.
Wow some of those GSA are expensive. There are two dozen of them, gonna have to go back through them. How to split them equally or the best I can. Mom says to draw straws. I have it divided up into 5ths but its not that simple is it..... The range of those GSA is vast.
Anything on that nickel with the ruined reverse? Please!! Sorry

The 1883 V nickel No Cents on the obverse the liberty head shows no wear but the stars are showing what could be wear. The rim of the coin is showing signs of wear. I would put the coin at AU Environmental Damaged because for the reverse.

With that many GSA coins some could be proof like PL or deep mirror proof like DMPL that will add to the value. For the PL and DMPL look for a mirror finish in the fields and frosty devices.

On the 1883 V nickel, you should try to soak the coin in acetone for a couple of hours. It may not work, but it is worth a try. If it is silver paint, it will come right off. Do not wipe the coin after the acetone bath. Just set on a soft cloth to dry. Acetone will not remove toning but will remove organic material and will not hurt the coin.

Thanks. And thanks for the tip. try it now.
Will recheck and bring back any that might be in question. The 3 here are nice but nothing stellar. One looks frosted but not in a good way on the face. Take pics when the suns up. Brought back the Jackie Robinson commemorative gold coin and Baseball card.. Can post pics tomorrow?

I have it divided up into 5ths but its not that simple is it. It not that simple because one high graded GSA better date could be worth 10 times the value of a common low grade GSA date. On the 24 GSA Morgans, you may want to send them all to NGC for grading. Once a grade is assigned you can assign value to each coin and make a fair disbursement for your family members. It would cost about $30 for each coin for the grading fees.
