First thought was Grease Filled Die, but the shape of what's left of the B may mean that is took a hit in circulation. Can you get a closeup of the letter B with less glare?

I agree with @fuzzy's second thought that the letter B has taken a hit during its time in circulation. Whatever caused that damage also slightly hit the letter E.
