Well I see the thread has taken a little bit of a turn. Lets hope that we all have a long time left so not to worry about what will happen to our collections. I know that neither my wife or children have any interest in my coins. I'm sure they will put them up for sale. On the other hand my children will want my Japanese Sword collection.

I made some solid progress in 2017 with my hoard of the '82s. I added 182, 282, 882, 982, and 1282 dated coins. For 2018, my remaining century holes are 82, 382, 482, 582, 682, and 1082. There is a nice 682 in a Jan auction I hope to bring home. Wish me luck! 1082 and 482 are proving particularly rare mintages.

To properly go through the tubs and boxes of mailers I have, holder them and enter them into a database.

For years, I've bought coins on ebay, or other sellers. I mark what the coin is on the mailer, then toss it into a bin marked: Ancient, US, World, Casino Chip or Casino Token (after switching out dangerous PVC holders). When the box gets full, I close it, mark the months and years on it, and put it in a stack.

The stack is at 9 boxes. The boxes are 28x18x24.

I think I need an Assistant. Maybe I can do like Kramer did on Seinfeld and finagle an assistant. LOL.

In 2018:

1. return to the Women of Rome project and finish off the incomplete. Then expand on the earlier examples with my more recent acquisitions.

2. bring order to my chaotic collection of Roman Provincials.

3. update my earlier studies of Late Roman imperial bronze, especially certain types.

4. thin out my duplicates.

5. get deeper into the Eastern mints of the late second and early third centuries.

Interesting goals, though I not sure what Collects82 is referring too.

Pretty sure that @collects82 focuses his current collecting efforts on finding coins with AD dates that end in those two digits.

Well he might be able to find Roman coins than can be pinned down to a date by using honors. It will be extremely difficult to come up with and exact date on the rest.

I was born 1982, and despite my love for coins, actually focusing on one particular series has proven too hard. Too much cool stuff out there "I have to have" or at least have dabble in. I succumbed to my ADD and found a way to dabble in everything and research anything. Everyday is something new to behold.

About 5 years ago I started working on a set that focuses on 1982, 1882, ... 1082, 682, 582, 482, 382, etc, or the corresponding date in another calendar. I've had to go with corresponding AH dates for some years, my 282 is a 204 Western Satraps, many of my 1182 are Chinese. The hoard is accumulating some of everything :)

My first was actually an 1882-S Morgan for my 15th birthday. It was about 15 years after that this focus really came around. I am slowly working on a date set of Capped Bust Half Dimes and dimes, and Draped Liberty cents and Half Cents. The 82s thing gets more attention because it's a lot more fun in its variety.
