Sorry gidgit, I was stuck on p4 of this thread and never saw your answer. I emailed the stuff to Devlec for reposting after he reconfigures the info.

your coin and pictures would indicate all digits are re-punched

Yes Bill, I think you are right about the 1 also being re-punched on the 821x. It didn't show up as well on the coin photographed for the catalog.

Haxby 191, obv. 19, rev. E21. Die clash above queen, and a ridge caused by die clash on the reverse. Under $10.

TerryT, the PC59-191 (19 + E21) has been renumbered in Dr. Haxby's catalog to die pair PC59-8a1 (8a + E10).

The reason for the change is that the old E21 reverse was found to be a later state of reverse E10. Since the early states of E10 were paired with obverse 8, obverse 19 was renumbered to 8a to fit into the proper place in the catalog.

Whenever new information becomes available about the dies in Dr. Haxby's catalog, changes are made to keep it current. All major changes are announced on the NEWS page in the catalog. It's one of the advantages of having the catalog online instead of in print. (Thanks Jim & Ed!)

You've got a lot of nice coins you've posted on this thread! Thanks for sharing them with us!!

OOPS ! Thanks for that info about the change, Phil. I started checking my 1859's when Dr. Haxby's site first started and have changed a lot of the numbers around but didn't think to recheck recently.

Here's another repunched 9, Charlton page 282; PC59-383, obv. 38, rev. E39b. Very obvious repunching on this one.

That's a nice one TerryT! The 383 is a bit tougher to find than some of the other re-punched 9's. The re-punching of the CA of CANADA is pretty neat on obverse 38 also.

papeldog: " this coin page 282 and 284 of Charlton 2011 Ed a couple of the hardest to find of all"

you mean Haxby E39 (p.282) and Haxby F3 (p.284).

I absolutely agree, both are very difficult - and should be among the most rare/desirable of the repunched 9s.

To put things into perspective I have 15-20 DP9 No.5s in every condition from G to MS.

I have 5 Haxby E39s and only 2 Haxby F3s that I've found over the course of 7 years, best are in EF...

In fact, for 6 years, I had 0 examples of Haxby F3...

I do have the Haxby PC59-383,..went down to PCGS a while back..

They called it RP 9 T4...AU ..but with Genuine AU Details with rim marks...Too bad they didn't get the T6 that I accurately described to them..

The RP in the C and A of Canada is quite pronounced as mentioned above...

I don't have the F3 ..but one day hopefully...

What does PCGS mean by T4 or T6? Type? Usually, instead of Charlton DP#s, they use T1-5. Maybe they mistook it for a DP#4

they mistook it for a DP#4.

there is no such thing as a "T6"...(i.e. there is no recognized numbering system for minor 9/9s beyond the Haxby numbers).
