I'm happy all the prizes made it successfully.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest and congrats again to the winners! I kept one of the nickels for myself and will be posting about it in the next couple days.

That reminds me, if you have the inclination, check your prize for doubled dies. There are 11 DDOs and 4 DDRs listed for 1943-S.

A great example but lousy images. Well struck.
Looks better than this!

@TNG

Is that the one with all the crazy die polishing scratches on the reverse?

@Bump111

Have you had a chance to take a closer look at yours?

I have to dig out my real good magnifying glass and take a closer look.

edit: I see quite a bit of evenly spaced vertical die polishing marks, especially under the entire building to the rim.

I did check it out under magnification. I'm not great at imaging through slabs, but I can definitely see lots of die polishing lines on the reverse, plus what looks like ghosting and possible indications of a clash.

Edit: the ghosting is probably a strike characteristic of these silver issues. I've seen it on several of my other War Nickels. But I don't think any of them are as nice as this one!

I am not sure but the T and Y in liberty seem to have some splits in them. I'll see what I can show.

edit:
Best I can do ~ The second one even gets larger if you click on it. Optimized here at home
To use the microscope, I have to crank start my old pc on the other side of the room with Windows XP and fire up the microscope program. I did discover closeups are pretty good using the built in light. It's a bit of a chore. I have it set up for when I take images of my Jefferson set someday THIS YEAR.

I was mainly asking about the die cracks on the obverse.

That looks pretty clear. I scanned the listings and this may be a match:

https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com...gs/view/1494

Unfortunately, the upper section of the RTY pic is a bit blurry in the listing. That one is supposed to be an RPM as well, so that's something to look for.

I really need to get a scope!
