Quote: I'm curious as to why Dansco does not include holes for the proof issues. Any ideas? The 8xxx series Dansco albums say "including proof-only issues" on their cover. This means there are proof holes for when only a proof is issued, typically San Francisco minted coins from 1968 onward. This is why there are no proof holes for 1968-S to 1974-S Lincoln Cents in the 8100 or 1968-S to 1970-S Jefferson nickels in the 8113. The album that goes against this setup is the 8166 Kennedy half dollar album. It does have a separate hole for the 1964 proof. It also has holes for the 1965-1967 SMS coins.

Here is my home made set holder from the 70s. These were all circulation finds. When I started collecting seriously again, I knew I did not have a Bugs Bunny (or so I thought), so bought this one: Clipboard In blissfull, uneducated bliss I thought I had "completed" the set. Then saw the following and could not resist it b/c I like fantasy coins: And NOW it was complete! NOT! A few more years of CCF education showed me DDOs, REV types, proofs, and other Bugs Bunny's still out there!

Thanks or that thorough explanation, jbuck. I appreciate it!

I like that 64 D. If Kennedy had not been assassinated, it probably would not be a fantasy coin.

dave700x- Nice albums! What coins do you have in the 65-D, 66-D and 67-D Kennedy holes?

I remember the old days when the 1949S far outshined all others as far as prices go. These days the 1949D and 1950D and a number of others surpass it in MS65. Nice Franklins all. One of my favorites too. And I am a fan of Ben Franklin and his history too.
