Thanks Debra. I think I have decided to go with a Dansco if for no other reason than to protect the uncirculated coins.

Nice graphic, Earle42... I checked my 1939 Philly coins in my inventory (not albums) and found 26 T1 and 156 T2... just a note, that 1939-D type II mintage should be 2.63 million...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

Not sure what happened. I posted a message this Am to this thread and its not here. I goofed somehow!

Oh well - try, try again:

Hey, Earle. I didn't know so I just checked. According to your chart, the P and D are type 2 and the S is type 1.

When I found out about these it gave me a good excuse to add one more of each date & MM to my set. I still need a couple of them.

Varieties:
You also asked about varieties.

And as for looking for varieties, check out the Jefferson e-books at Variety Vista:

http://varietyvista.com/04a%20JN%20...01/index.htm

http://varietyvista.com/04b%20JN%20...02/index.htm

They list all the known varieties. There are some nice doubled dies and OMMs. Just have fun looking through the pics. There are a lot of minor one also. I personally just like the ones you can see without needing very high magnification.

Albums:
Remember a standard Dansco album (any brand) will not have varieties since so many different collectors collect only certain varieties. I think Dansco will customize though, or at least thy have blanks albums.

Thanks - and I will work on editing after I hit submit reply.

I only had around 4 rolls of 1939-p coins pulled from circulation years ago. I got very few type Is when I looked at them. You must have had a ton of them!

Great info, Earle. Thank you. This will give me something to work on, and I can see myself going after those type 1 39s now. I will read over the VV data.

Do you have the type 1 1940 proof?

Not yet. I don't have any of the older proofs yet. I had not considered collecting them until recently.

The problem is I have a lot of coins I need to get access to and then get them organized. I currently am going through rolls of nickels put away in the 60s-80s looking for varieties. I have other denominations to go through also (it will take some time!).

After I find all the varieties I have, then I will start filling the holes.

I don't know what surprises are lurking in my safe deposit box!

Update - thanks again John77 - also changed at the bottom to say it is the proof mintages from 1939 that are unknown. It contradicted the top lines otherwise

I have ordered my Dansco album along with an extra blank page so I can store Type 1 and Type 2 reverses (also ordered the expansion pages for my Lincoln album.) Picking up on Saturday from LCS. When I transfer the coins I will check for the varieties listed on the VV site. Thanks again, everyone!

That is a lot of years of work. I'll bet it feels great to finish up. Way to go.

This is great! I really would like to have an album where the varieties I want are included in the normal lineup. I have been struggling with how to do this my Kennedys for awhile now (and want something like an Encap album of to make my own with plexi). Maybe I just need to put them on a final page like your are going to. I have then this way in 2X2s in a three ring binder anyway.

Wow, huge congrats and good move getting a Dansco. Awesome!

I'm still many coins away from completing my "from circulation"/CRH set, but I've only been at it for 5 years.

Keep at it. I'm still feeling a little guilty about giving in, but I just don't have time to CRH like I did in the past. It does feel nice to have the set finished, though!

HA! Thanks USSID. That's one reason I decided to move them to the Dansco. That old Vol 1 Whitman has seen better days!

I will take a few photos after the job is done and post here.
