Great to see some non-Roman coins Bob...Lovely clear obverse.. Really like the simplicity of the design.. The eye brow extending to nose and returning back under the eye to form the cheek...nice..nice.. Curiously the guy on the reverse looks just like Antoninus Pius... Thanks for sharing Paul

I agree, I love seeing these tets, Bob! Unfortunately, I don't think there are many civilizations besides Rome and Parthia that would qualify until we get back to Wang Mang, and then some of the Celts and terminal Greek kingdoms. Republican moneyers should take us back at least until the Ptolemies and Seleucids can take over... I think we can do this! Anyway, this was an especially interesting decade for Rome in the Year of Five Emperors after Commodus' death. A favorite of mine is this one from Septimius Severus' former ally turned usurper Clodius Albinus, as Augustus (Autumn 196 - February 19, 197) AR Denarius Lugdunum (Lyons) mint IMP CAES D CLO ALBIN AVG GEN LVG COS II, Genius of Lugdunum standing with scepter and cornucopia, eagle at feet.

Finally, I can post something! Here is a Marcus Aurelius denarius piece that was made from 177 to 178. Its obverse legend in M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG, while its reverse legend is TR P XXXII IMP VIIII COS III P P. ----- I only have two coins from Ancient Rome. My other is from the 340s, meaning it was too new for this thread. So... this will be the last coin of mine that I am able to post in this thread.

Probably stretching the rules here, but I'll take every opportunity to show this one off! This is probably the last non-Roman coin I can post for a while. Satavahana empire, Yajna Satakarni AR Drachm Bust of Yajna Satakarni right, wearing elaborate earrings, hair bun atop forehead, Brahmi legend around 6-arched hill, Ujjain symbol, river, Tamil Brahmi legend around. Although he ruled for 29 years and did not date his coins, the 170s are the only decade that all scholars agree that he was active and in power.

I think there is no problem . I know nothing of Indian (?) coins , but for the obverse , there is for me a resemblance with Greek coins .albert
