A real bounty for this decade! Here is an AE26 from Markianopolis featuring Diadumenian. It was made in 217-218 AD. It will be almost another century before I can post another coin. None of my coins prior to the 120s can be definitively dated to a period of only ten years.

Thanks Paul! That Caracalla is the jewel of my Roman collection by virtue of the portrait, and would probably be the very last one I would part with, should I ever decide to sell. Unfortunately, my Domna is from Caracalla's reign, and I never photographed my Severus' reverse. Guess I'm on the sidelines until the 190s P.s. I agree that is a lovely portrait for Julia!

Septimius Severus : 193-211 . AR denarius : 19 mm , 4 gr , 7 h obv : SEVERUS PIOUS AUG : laureate head right rev : P M TR P XVI COS III P P : Concordia seated left , in left hand scepter , in righthand patera over altar . Mint : Rome , struck 208 ref : RIC218 I have the same coin , same legend ,same year , but with another RIC number 221 , and representing Salus , but here sacrifying out of a patera , because the patera is hold a little bit oblique .That is the only reason I can find . @DavidUK : it is often difficult to date to a period of 10 years ,as Spence wrote .I think this will be a real problem from about 200 BC , when the Roman coins end in this thread . albert
