My friend says the 3 digit are scarcer. Why are the 3 and 4 digit priced the same in charlton if thats the case?

Hello
Your friend is correct. 3 digit radars are scarcer than 4 digit radars
In a normal prefix run of 10 million banknotes there are 5040 4 digit radars, 4320 3 digit radars, 630 2 digit radars and 9 1 digit (solid) radars
the prices for 3 or 4 digit radars have always been the same in the catalogue and I can only assume this is because of the amounts of each are fairly high and likely do not warrant a price difference.
That being said, I have personally found that 3 digit radars may go for a few dollars more.

Welcome "friedsquid!" I think your stats illustrate nicely just how close the 3 & 4 digit radars are in terms of difficulty finding one. Great to see you share your expertise here.

I agree, and have found this to be the case more for the older series (pre-Journey) & mostly depending on the eye appeal of the said radar (not all number/number combinations are equal). The book (Charlton) does not take into account low (or high) # radars such as: 0072700 9978799 and has just recently caught up with the repeater/radars that many find appealing.
