Does anybody know anything about this coin?
It's is about 20 mm in diameter and appears to be made of copper.
I think it is arabic in origin, but I am probably wrong

That's neither Arabic, nor a dog.

This coin is from Tibet, back when it was an independent country. It's a 5 skar dated on the cyclical Tibetan calendar Cycle 15, Year 56; this equates to 1922 AD. Listed in Krause as KM/Y# 19.1, Upper Dode mintmark variety.

The creature in the centre obverse is a mythical Snow Lion.

I'll admit--the title had me intrigued.
Yep, that alphabet is only used in two regions/countries: Tibet and Bhutan.

It is a snow mountain lion. The lion is also on the tibet flag.
