Hello. Here are 2 1955 pennies from my dad's collection. I have been reading all the links and info I am being suggested by you guys. Please comment. The pictues are clear as I have worked out how to use the camera on my phone now. The link is in the post underneath - sorry am still getting the hang of this. These are the 2 1955's I have side by side.

Thanks in advance. Veronica

In the Australian Pre-Decimal Coin Varieties book, the front one of these is also listed as Very Scarce. Ie, the one with close figure 5's in date.

From the alignment of the digits in the date, and, though hard to tell from the pic, it seems to be the regular no dot Melb type the one on the left of picture.
Even though the 5's are close together on the Perth close 5's variety, there is still a larger gap between the 9 and first 5 digit, where as the Melb coins have all digits closer as per your photo Dolly.

Edited "the one on the left of picture"
The one on right of picture is the regular evenly spaced 5's type, or possibly(would need Queen side photo) the even wider Obv 9 variety, which is worth a pretty penny.

Hello. No he had them all in little covers. There weren't kept in a jar. I have several regular pennies and half pennies also. I am just focussing on the errors at this early stage. Crash course let's call it. I really have lots of just about everything. Let me know what your interested in and I will look through them. Veronica

Hi Dolly, would really love to see an obverse side picture( heads side) of the coin on the right of picture. If it is a Obv 9 coin, would be worth around the $100.00 mark. Is a rare variety.
