Those B&W ones on the right are kind of unusual for Notgeld... right? Most are extremely colorful that I've seen.

There is a recurring style of notgeld that depicts scenes in silhouette, so I don't consider them as especially odd solely on that count.

I picked up one this weekend I hadn't thought was possibly being in the time of hyperinflation, but after noticing the date of Dec 1923, that was at the time the German Gubmint began to print money with some umpff! This is backed by GOLD, says to the effect of being traded in NYC as a dollar in gold. Could that really be, was America recognizing German banking at this time of the Weimar startup?

"DER HANDELSKAMMER LUDWIGSHAFEN A. RH." refers to the Chamber of Commerce of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein (Ludwig's port on the Rhine).

"PFÄLZ." is an abbreviation of "pfälzer", which means Palatine. I assume that means this note was intended to be used only within the confines of Ludwigshafen A. RH.

A really interesting example of the genre. I'm presuming the three discolored squares at the top of the back are from its being affixed to some other paper (likely an album page) via gummed stamp hinges. If so that's not too uncommon but unfortunate in this instance nonetheless.

I have had some Notgeld for a while & recently picked up some more notes.
Was going to start a new topic but had a search and found this great thread existed already.
Here are some recent ones I acquired that I think really stand out.
The designs are quite striking

ScotsGreyhound - Thank you for sharing these, I'd judge them to be particularly artistic.

Thanks jbuck, Lucky Cuss
It's an excellent topic.
Many of these little works of art contain a message, a story or a comment on society at that time. Interesting stuff.

These notgeld seem to be based on a "German-America Week" festival or exhibition of sorts? Might even have been a newspaper called "America Week"?
There are 8 notes in the set.
Issued in Bremen (1923)
2 x 25 pfg and a 50 pfg.

I'd venture that these Bremen notgeld were issued more as souvenirs than for use as currency, as by 1923 the purchasing power of 25 or 50 pfennig was almost nil.

Thanks Lucky Cuss, I think you are on the money there, as they say.
By 1923 hyperinflation was everywhere, I checked those Bremen notgeld online & a rough guess was they are perhaps worth around €2 each UNC today.
I have recently bid on a job lot of notgeld, seriously addictive little notes
