It's times like these that I envy the Swiss.
Same design on their Franc for nearly 150 years now. Promotes the image of a stable currency and country, and simple for collectors!

I would rather see this new proposed series instead of ATB Round 2. Regardless, you will never see the Pre-1999 eagle reverse again as the current legislation calls for a design showing Washington crossing the Delaware.

Has there ever been a coin with the same person on both the obverse and reverse? Washington was a great guy, but both front and back seems like, I don't know, overkill. Plus all I'll see is that Geico commercial. Put Mt Vernon or the Washington Monument on the reverse and then leave it alone for a few decades.

Yes. Many times. For example, the New Jersey statehood, the South Dakota, and the South Dakota ATB Quarters all have Washington on both sides.

That's too bad that the pre-1999 Eagle is history. Would be nice to have a reverse that stayed the same for at least a few years.

Please use them in the future. ***To be fair they created that design in 1932 so it's been in circulation for plenty of time. If I had my druthers we'd start completely new. New obverse, new reverse new everything.

Another good article on this legislation. Of note is that it calls for 5-oz puck versions of each quarter, just like the ATB program. I'd pass on those.

I am still waiting on the House and Senate to bring back up the Bill to make a Curve Basketball Coin. Canada just released a Baseball Coin and previously had the Football Coin. I guess I still need to keep all my 2017 Enhanced Coin sets if they are still going to Produce Tons of Quarters

I'm all for honoring the 19th Amendment, but I do have a couple problems with this. Without cutting the ATB program short, interrupting it, or running two side-by-side, the new series can't run until 2021, when it will be too late for the centennial. I'm also a bit tired of five new designs every year- I collected the State Quarters when I was a kid, but by the time ATB was launched the year I turned 10, I didn't bother. I'd prefer that they just issue a normal commemorative- perhaps a circulating one, perhaps a few designs- but just for 2020. As far as what to do when ATB finishes, I wouldn't mind a return to the normal design. I like the idea of at least one long-running design, and while the Lincoln obverse serves that purpose now, I don't think cents should last much longer, so the next oldest is the Washington quarter. It's not my favorite recent design, but I wouldn't mind the most widely circulated coin carrying the older design.

For the record, I'd be okay with a one-year circulating commemorative issue for the sestercentennial coming up in 2026, as was done 50 years prior.

Not that I want even more quarters, but if we're bound to have all these long term and multi design years then I feel that the US Mint should produce a regular quarter alongside the the commemorative quarters. Canada does this and it works. This way we can choose to NOT collect the commemoratives and at the same time keep some continuity in our sets by having the regular design.
