Don't forget the Mythical Creatures series. I'm sure the Sasquatch coin doesn't make the Sasquatch real.

on behalf of the dear sasquatches in the world I hope you are not hurting their sensitive feelings..... well actually Ufology is not strictly a classed as a hobby silveroid....Ufology is the study of reports, visual records, physical evidence, and other phenomena related to unidentified flying objects (UFO). Its a scientific and philosphical bordering on religious discipline.....The fact that this FL Coin is a black light enhanced coin shows the scientific side of the RCM design. Now if they did another release of the coin in a rare metal like Platinum that would be even more sought after. That would easily sell starting at 750 for sure...

I don't mean to sound dismissive but how can you classify Ufology as anything other than a hobby. Dictionary definition of hobby is "an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation". If you derive income from an activity... it is a job. If you don't, it is a hobby, whether that is researching coins or UFO reports, or a recreational sport such as baseball or sailing.
When you turn pro, and get paid for the activity... it becomes a job (or career) but until then it is a pastime or hobby.

well then by the definition of hobby... ufology does not qualify because it is rather dangerous to ones nerves, health , reputation and freedom to pursue serious ufology in the current climate of secrecy, top secret clearance barriers and govt. persecution of scientists who have disclosed their connection with govt. projects involving ETs and their technology.....but again ..im not entering any debate on the veracity of ufo claims....coin collecting is a relaxing hobby generally ....until you start entering debates in coin forums..The fact is this Falcon Lake coin is selling very well... and the prices right now are getting higher with more coins listing over 1000.00..the last 2 sales have been over 750.00.......

My brother bought a crappy car for $4000, (while I wouldn't have taken it for free), it has a blue book value of $2000. Does that make the car worth $4000 because someone was foolishly willing to spend the money on it. I don't think so. I've seen enough NCLT coins over the years to know better than to sink a bunch of money into them, anticipating there is a chance of them gaining value. While this coin seems hot now, history of pass releases tells me otherwise. To each his own, I suppose.

Quote:It is an overreach to suggest that there is official government sanction for Falcon Lake because of a coin issued by the RCM just as much as other coins issued should lead to belief that the government believes in santa claus, angels, the tooth fairy or a haunted Brakeman. That truth, vonogahcr, just forgot about previous coins I found the fact interesting: Lake of Ontario.Source of the life in the region. Priceless resource The coin minted with technology of raised relief and depth, Enameled. Could be found for CAD 50 vs "Falcon Lake UFO event" painted GITD coin, for which people ready to pay CAD 700+

now if they had put a UFO above the Lake Ontario coin it would be selling for a lot more right now..you could always send them to Germany and have them enhanced..and make a killing in the ufo coin market...its never too late...

how sad...silver was only 6.00USD then...who wouldve guessed in a few short yrs it would go to 50.00?..I would agree ..for most average nclt silver coins they are destined for the melting vat....probably a good reason to try and imbue some emotionally charged content into them like our current favorite Falcon Lake UFO coin..it even has its own topic in the CCF forum ...unlike the lonely but Majestic Moose of 2004 which stands forgotten in silver but forever munching weeds in northern Ontario...Next to Lake Ontario I think....now..if they did a majestic moose looking up at the sky next to lake ontario with a you know what flying above...ha ha that would garner a few bucks....

I don't doubt that these coins will sell above issue for the short term but I can't imagine spending 3-5 times issue price for a modern trinket/coin. Who is paying these prices? I've only paid over issue price on 1 NCLT, and it was to complete my farewell to the penny series. ($600 for the 5 oz silver penny) I'm not sure if I'd be able to sell it for $600 now (or after a thousands more coins are released, in the future) but I'm certain that it was a far better choice than paying $700+ for any coin issues at $130. As far as modern "coins" go, $130 for a 4000 mintage coin with 1 oz silver is a better deal than I've seen in the past and I'm sure when I was an upper MC member years ago, I would have been all over this. I think the reviews and question section on the mint website regarding this coin is funny. A mix and mash of opinions.

I hope whoever "absolutely needs this coin" in their collection gets it for as close to issue price as possible

who is paying these prices?...really?....I find your comments head shaking material in a world where folks pay 50K for a used gold rolex...albeit used by Russell Crowe....but cmon man....folks pay huge bucks for their passions..and there are millions of folks passionate about the uFO issue all over the world..seriously....you nclt members are collecting in an area which is mostly full of boring crap...I sell nclt silver bullion coins all the time and basically you are looking a bullion value plus a small premium if you are lucky..The price of silver is stuck at around 15-17.00USD for the past 2 yrs as we all know so when a refreshing wind blows its time to put out the sails and enjoy the ride and sail across Falcon Lake .....so I hope you loaded up on the FL coin my friends so you can enjoy the ride with me.....

There is no comparison between a vintage Rolex and this UFO coin. That is a fact. You're talking about a finely crafted timepiece made out of gold, that has stood the test of time (pun intended), not 1oz of silver with some paint and glow in the dark feature. I'd bet a bunch get sent back due to poor quality, like many other coins of odd shape with colours added. It wasn't a sarcastic question when I asked who was buying this coin at $700. I'm curious to know, how many people that bought this coin or are even just following this thread would spend anywhere near $500 to add it to their collection. I'm guessing 95% of readers here, that have been around the RCM NCLT block a few times wouldn't touch it much higher than issue price. This coin is kind of cool. Kind of unique (not the shape, weight, gitd feature, denomination, but just the theme). Kind of a cross collectable. It's got much going for it. But even the super big shots in the NCLT world such as glass ladybug or original gold superman can be found far below what they peaked at. Even if some imaginary space craft beamed me aboard and aliens reprogrammed my brain into buying NCLT above issue price, I still wouldn't pay $700. Edit: if you are selling silver at $15-17/oz the last couple years, you'd be losing money. It's spot price is just under $21 Canadian an ounce.

comparison is valid because both Falcon Lake Coin and a gold Rolex are luxury items which no one really needs....if you are thinking silver bullion then you arent going to buy an FL coin and if you need a practical watch for work you can do quite well for 200.00 or less..So this discussion which from your point of view seems to revolve around the value of silver is really a merry go round in relation to the FL coin Value..Do you think that the Superman Gold 2013 is holding value because of the 14k gold content? Puleeeeese.......I edited my post to USD value because thats how I keep track of it...Its low but thats life in the bullion game ..gold is the same ....pretty much static for a few yrs now....if you really want Russel Crowes old gold rolex then you will pay 50k..if you really want the FL coin then you will pay 1 k...whats your argument with that? Its all a matter of values and opinion..so I'm checking out of this topic now...talk to yall next week sometime and we will see how the demand goes in a weeks time ... love yall

I clearly know, that Rolex different from the coin, in the fact that Rolex possible to wear and check time. The coin for display only, while 90% never display the coins. My friend has a fake Rolex from NY and it looks not bad. My kid lost somewhere 2011 GITD dyno - this is destiny of coin went out of the case. In my eyes btw, both FL coin and Gold Superman - painted coins. But people jumped on both. Honestly, nothing special. One was Superman first, second - UFO first. I have Disney Store 1:43 diecast cars set from the "Unidentified Flying Mater" short Pixar Cartoon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hhoOfI5TAsis UFO community aware of this? (happened near Radiator Springs)
