First day of general release and it is 'awaiting stock'.
Did anyone else get in on this one?
Not surprisingly, so is the Gof7 Carmichael. Edited by CC-Ottawa 09/25/2012 2:49 pm

I did. Luckily, I grab 2. I think it will do quite well in the future. Anyone else got 2 or more?

$500 is too much for this coin. IMO. I will go with 3 penny set instead of buy one of this 5 oz coin.

I agree. I LOVE the design of this coin, but paying $500 for 5oz is CRAZY! You would have to hope silver shoots up to $100/oz to break even....wont happen.

Awaiting stock? There were 207 left according to the Mint ordering system at 1PM. It started the day at 253.

I got one, for the sake of my 1-cent collection. I absolutely despised the issue price, more than double what the US Mint sells the 5 oz 'quarters' for... Just let the 1-cent series die already...

I think it is awaiting stock becasue they have to hold back some for the post offices and for the mint boutiques across Canada. Its unlikely they sold all 200 of them in one hour.
I bought one for my own collection but not a second one because it would be hard to resell for any profit, given the high cost of the coin.
It would be interesting to see what Gatewest will now charge for the coin.

Could be but there were actually 500 allocated before it went to masters club. More than 200 were sold the first day of MC sales.
They might come back on sale but I wouldn't count on it. I'm also not sure the POs will carry this one. I've never seen anything over $199 (the Grey cup package) in a PO. The most expensive single coin I've seen in a PO was the Venetian bee.
Has anyone tried to order a 5 oz at a PO or asked about availability at a PO?

A nice coin, pricey, and will probably grow in price in the near future. Now you will see ebay listings stating sold-out even though it is not mentioned yet on Mint

@ CC-Ottawa :
In one of the topics, I posted, that yesterday entered to 2 PO's and asked about new coins availability. Both of them ordered 5-coins set and ready to try to order more, but no one ordered 5oz Penny. May be it worth to ask about availability to order the coin, but I wasn't interested.

Gatewest Coins is now selling this coin for $609.99. This coin is also listed on Canada Post online but is sold out.
Looks like a good investment, despite the high cost.
