1953-D Lincoln Cent Close And Far Date

Sparechange New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 04/22/2018 09:47 am I never noticed before but going through about 100 or so 1953-D pennies, I noticed some have the dates nearly touching the "D". Spence Moderator United States 34447 Posts	Posted 04/22/2018 10:11 am @SC, it sounds like you are saying that the mintmark and date vary in distance between each other. The date should be staying in the same place from coin to coin, but as the minmarks were added by hand, their position (and orientation) varies somewhat. I have been lucky to find a few error cents of other sates. Two 1943 steels with missing #4. Really neat. Report this Post to the Staff
