madzdad71 Valued Member United States 377 Posts	Posted 06/16/2008 9:22 pm I was going back over my 83 cents, and I was amazed to see how many die cracks are on this cent. All the way from the D in UNITED.. One on each side of he bottom corners of the memorial, that stretch all along the bottom. One from the E in ONE to the C in CENT and one between R & I in AMERICA I'm sure there are more, I will try for better pics tonight. I have 1 with 5 cracks on it - one at each corner of the memorial and one in the top-middle area. I would think that multiples like mine and yours are nice collection items though. madzdad71 Valued Member United States 377 Posts	Posted 06/17/2008 05:59 am Seattle, Yeah, the break goes from the right rim to about the middle of the memorial, it gets thicket as it goes, same for the left side. I hope that they tossed that Die! Report this Post to the Staff

For some reason, '83 was very prevalent for reverse cracks--or I just notice it when I look for the 83 DDR. Report this Post to the Staff

KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 06/19/2008 12:13 pm The Y could be thin due to a die clash that was polished out, leaving less relief in that area. This is prevalent on some years such as the 70-S small date, where the die is sometimes polished down so far as to remove half the L mintmark. Report this Post to the Staff
