Are Kennedy Half Dollar / KHD S W/O Reeded Edges Rare?

Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 05/08/2018 04:49 am It appears to be rounded at the upper edges, I venture to say it has been manually removed. It is possible yes to not have reeding, that would be a broadstruk coin, or "out of collar" struck. The reeding is impressed by the collar upon striking. A planchet tho, will have quite visible layers, your coin is "wavy", this indicates the metal has been forced by the collar present, only way for that effect. Reeding has been filed smoother by slot/vending machines I bet. Report this Post to the Staff

Each one of those wore the reeding down just a little bit; eventually it all wears off. You can see the same thing on older quarters that have spent years or decades being fed through vending machines. Report this Post to the Staff
