I'm still messing around with the machine that's closest to me - the choice of host coin in this instance was based upon the Territory of Arizona being granted statehood in 1912. Like NumisRob, I have a tourist destination no great distance away (about ¾ of an hour's drive) that has numerous elongated presses available. That'd be Tombstone (The Town Too Tough to Die). So today I went down there to make a few. Here's a sampling: Another Wyatt Earp design: And Geronimo: In case you're wondering as to the host coin used for this last one:

Quote: I also now know the origin of your username, Lucky Cuss. The Lucky Cuss was one of several particularly productive claims in the Tombstone District that evolved into prominent, large scale mining operations. Among the others well-known in their era were the Contention, Tough Nut, and Goodenough. So far as I know, the Lucky Cuss is the only one of these to have been commemorated via an elongated die. Although the Tombstone District's silver deposits were not so extensive as those of the previously mined Comstock Lode near Virginia City, Nevada, the few years during which they were exploited proved sufficiently lucrative to make Tombstone one of the legendary boom towns of the Old West. I went up to London with a friend yesterday to visit an art gallery, but I managed to get some elongates from a new machine that I hadn't used before:

I saw a machine for this at the Hudson Ferry. Wish I had used it then.

We have some machines around town that have these. I am tempted to spend part of the day saturday visiting them.
