This older piece looks as if it was made with the die somewhat offset with respect to its short axis. That'd seem to imply a press that was at the time improperly set up or out of adjustment.

Trains and sharks...common themes for elongated cents. That is a great grouping @LC!

Here is my elongated cent from the Hotel Del Coronado overlooking San Diego CA. Looks like a 2003 host coin.

A couple more 1881's rolled to commemorate the shootout that occurred in October of that year near the O.K. Corral in Tombstone. Note that the designs, while quite similar, aren't identical.
