Good Morning.

I started going through my "questionable" pennies when I saw this one. Please look at Lincoln's nose. Does anyone know how this would have been done. I am guessing and hoping it is a mint error. I really want to hear its a DDO. If my money was on it, I would bet its Machine Doubling. I forgot to get a shot with the date in it but I wanted to get this out as it takes me awhile to get my posts together.

Thank you.

The face is a common area for MD. Liberty does look interesting. A closer view I would like to see along with the date. What I'm looking to see on Liberty is if one half of the affected devices are lower or raised on one side or the other? If so, it would be MD also. But I'm thinking it will show that at a different angle. I checked V.V. and Wexler's sites, but nothing listed for this year/mint. Seems like the Denver hub for the single squeeze dies is still not having the issues that the Philadelphia mint is having that allows the class 9 dies to show. So I'm interested, but not excited yet. So more images may help us.

Hello Coop. I was excited just to hear that someone was curious about one of my photos. I tried to get better shots of "LIBERTY" which does look doubled or even tripled. I also added shots of the reverse. I am curious to hear what you think..

It's just Machine Doubling on Liberty, not a Doubled Die Obverse. Machine Doubling as reduces the sizes of the devices and is shelflike in appearance. A real Doubled Die would have extra thickness, notching, and separation lines. Go to this link and read about what causes Doubled Dies and how they're created. doubleddie.com/58222.html
