Indo Greek kingdom Hippostratos, c. 65-55 BC Bare-headed, diademed bust of king right, Greek legend around: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ / IΠΠOΣTPATOY (Basileos Soteros Hippostratou ... of King Hippostratos, the saviour) Tyche standing left, holding cornucopia and conferring blessing with right hand, monogram at left and Kharoshthi letter a at right, Kharoshthi legend around: maharajasa tratarasa / hipustratasa A rather uncommon ruler, he was a successor of Apollodotus II and CoinIndia notes that he was the last Indo-Greek ruler to issue tetradrachms. A natural degradation silver embrittlement process, known as silver crystallization, has affected this coin. There are quite a few references to be found on Google on the natural process of silver crystallization or silver embrittlement. Report this Post to the Staff
