Your coin took a hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened.

As mentioned the coin took a hit on the LIBERTY area and altered it a bit. The mint mark has a broken post on it. This is not a Cud or chip. A Cud is when a part of the outside breaks away off the die. Chips are not part of the outside part of the die.
