I'm really not sure about this one. The shape of the ear is different compared to other 1984's but I can't tell if the ear is enlarged, which would mean a DDO, or if it is decreased, meaning damage or something else. What do you think? Possible doubled ear: Normal 1984:

Tanner, pretty sure its MD. Compare the width of the outer left upwards to I the indent along it, seems skinnier on your example coin. And besides, just looks too flat? Talking at 7-8 o'clock along the left edge, and compare to the normal. Not at my laptop to diagram or point!

It looks a lot like Machine Doubling. It looks flat and shelflike in appearance.

It's definitely hard to photograph, doesn't look flat in person. To me, the bottom portion of what could be a doubled ear looks to be higher relief than the portion to the left. There's also no MD on any other devices. I might be wrong, but I haven't seen any MD like this before. Maybe it's being affected by the copper plating? Sorry for being stubborn.

Make a side by side and see if the ear is enlarged or reduced. Larger, doubled die. Reduced, MD.
Well I tried to line up what was going on with coin. Then discovered the Coin has been polished. (Look at the ear inside area) When the die is altered some devices are thinned and look differently. The hair especially. But I was able to do an overlay of the lobe area and that area is an exact match. So I'm thinking the over polishing is what you are seeing on the area.

A polished die makes more sense than MD. You might be right Coop.
