Bronze Disease Or Not? - Coin Community Forum

If it IS verdigris, it is not a big problem just for now, but the problem areas should be treated reasonably soon. I agree with echizento regards tooling, but it is a nice coin, anyway. Keep an eye on it and look for 'fuzzy' powdery green that comes off on your fingernail. Green that is resistant to removal is usually not harming the surface. The reverse has certainly been scraped a bit. I reserve the word "tooling" for those awful coins I have seen where the metal has been cut and details added to it. I see nothing added nor do I see any serious signs that bare metal has been exposed and the patination chemically restored. I see scrape marks where some silly person thought they were making it better. Beautiful coin by the way ! Report this Post to the Staff
