1969 Great Britain 10 new pence. This coin was the same size as the old two-shilling piece and circulated before February 1971 as 2 shillings. Demonetised in 1992 when replaced by the current smaller coin.

1965 British 5 new pence - issued with the 10p in March 1968 as one of the first steps towards the adoption of decimal currency. Until February 1971 it was worth one shilling. 1968 was a pretty gloomy year for coin collectors, with the introduction of the decimals in Britain and the abandonment of circulating silver coins by Canada and Switzerland - the last two countries that still struck a whole range of denominations in silver for circulation.

Quote: 1968 was a pretty gloomy year for coin collectors On the other hand, in other parts of the world there were some interesting one year issues, and the FAO series was in full swing ... Half empty / half full 1968 Burundi 5 Francs: Macao 1 Pataca: Syria 1 Pound FAO: (Pardon my binge for the '60s. I'll have a couple of centuries without much to offer)
