Here is a Double Tournoi from the French Principality of Orange dated AD 1640:

"Principality of Orange" sent me scurrying off to do some research since we've seen a couple of coins now, and I knew that today Orange is a small city in Provence (France) much involved with the wine industry.
The House of Nassau-Orange came about from the 1515 marriage of Henry III of Nassau-Breda to Claudia of Chalon-Orange (so we see this family holding land in four places: Nassau (Germany), Breda (today's Netherlands), Chalon (Burgundy) and Orange (Provence). Their nephew, William was the first to use the combined title Orange-Nassau, and was a key figure in the Dutch struggle for independence of the late 1500s (I think we will see some jetons on this topic in September).
Orange, though comprising only about 100 square miles (280 sq km) was elevated from a county to a principality in 1163. As part of Orange-Nassau territory, it was sympathetic to Protestants during the religious wars of the 16th and 17th centuries, and was invaded frequently by the French. It finally became part of France in 1713. Coincidentally, its neighbor was the Comtat Venaissen, a Papal State, which became part of France even later, in 1795.
