Its clear to see something like a notch on the top of the 1 but dont know if that was a problem with the master die that year..

Definitely a master die issue. If you look at PCGS images of 1949 cents they all have that.

There are no known DDOs for 1949 Philly cents.

If it was on one of the master dies, I'd think it would show on many working dies. If on the master hub, then would show on all dies.

A few DDO's listed, Without full image, I can't add much more than that. Thanks, Doug.

Oh yeah. It's a Master Die issue. I've seen it on a lot of examples.

Looks like a contact mark. Note the 9took a hit also.

Not a master die issue, quite an obvious contact mark damage .

Coop... Chase...?

There's a notch at the top right and the bottom right of the 1. Every 1949 cent has it. I don't think every 1949 cent has a contact mark in the same spot.
