Doesn't the silver proof set have "United States Mint Silver Proof Set . 1996" Written on the sleeve/box ?

And has "SILVER" written on the plastic cases too

Yes Butch, that's what I thought. Doesn't that lens look green to you? I thought the silver sets were in the black lens.

I really liked the Birth Year Coin Set Tootallious recently posted. I wanted to put one together for my grandson, he was born in 96. I was on the bay looking for a 1996 silver proof set and came across this. I had to look at it three times and I'm still not sure. I contacted the seller and she insists it's silver. The set looks green to me and I don't see anything on the set that says silver... Only what she wrote in the title line and description. She looks like a new seller, so I'm staying away.

It's clad. A silver looks like this:

In addition to stating "silver," the writing is on the bottom, not the flap.

1996 proof sets did come with black box and black inserts. Those are
hard to tell from the pictures.

And I could be wrong but it looks like some of the coins have been switched
out. A couple of the coins don't look proof.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not something worth getting wrapped around the axle on. Just thought it was interesting.

mtuma3-

Yes, that was my understanding as well. I just think this listing was false advertising. I didn't think it was silver.
