Very nice. I believe struck through mid stage capped die.

By looking at the uneveness on the rim, I would say that
it has been mechanically removed. PMD

Incorrect. It was clearly Struck Through a Die Cap. Very nice find and congratulations! These errors are not common. These are hard to find. http://www.error-ref.com/struck_thr...age_die_cap/

Hi Richard.
If you're speaking of capped die strikes with brockages, there's only a rough rule of thumb to go by.
An early-stage brockage has most of the design with no distortion,

A mid-stage brockage has lost the peripheral lettering but still has most or all of the Memorial,
19?-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent
19?-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent
while a late-stage brockage has only expanded, distorted columns.

19?-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent
After that, there's no design.
