On the lower part of the "AM" on the reverse there appears to be some kind of doubling. Can someone confirm?

Not doubling. The coin was stuck with something that pushed the lower parts of A & M and put a small ding on the E. That may have also flattened the E from E Pluribus. PMD

Nope, just damage. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint).
