So 1 right answer and a thread needs no more commenting with in it. That sir is a very slippery slope. Transgressors would be dealt with swiftly and harshly. The Coin Community FAMILY forum would then be nothing special at that point. I wonder what impact that would have to the level of participation on this site? Rhetorical question there. I think on this one we will have to agree to disagree.

This is not really much of an issue except for one member that constantly just repeats what he reads previously in the topic. It's extremely rare he posts his thoughts before anyone else. We get many complaints about it.

The Parrot can be muzzled by Bobby deleting the ''I Agee'' Emoji .

So I do reply to threads that have multiple responses a lot, but I try to reply to my fair share of topics that have no replies.

I came on this thread to both agree with and compliment Crazyb0 for bringing this up when I noticed that bobby has also commented on this same subject. This has also been one of my peeves for a while. Unless there is a contest for most posts I didn't hear off, adding senseless posts that sometimes come days after the question has been answered makes me ask why unless it is for self importance. What I find the worst is when someone goes on a thread that they know little about and then agrees with the last post. If everyone had this same attitude, then every thread would have about 100 posts with no meaning.
In the over 4100 posts that I have, I can say to my recollection I have never just repeated what someone else has stated. I might use "I Agree" occasionally but I always try add something else to the post. If I see that there are others before me that have the same answer as mine, I just don't post.
I also thought that posts had to add something to the original thread goes or they would not be counted.
I know that there is not much that either I or some other members can really do about this so we will have to leave it up to bobby, after all it is his site and he makes the rules.
Guess I'm done my "peeving" for now.

There is a positive in it aside from activity in that it does get more eyes on the subject. Most people that use internet forums of any genre don't really look past the first page and even then some will just kind of scan the top part of the list. If everything just got a post or two and then was left alone things would fade away a lot quicker and could easily get missed by people that may have something to add or a different take on something.

I don't mind the I agree aspect in a post. I believe in majority rules. What gets me is, when a newer member gets multiples of the same answer and still does not believe it. John1

Quote: What gets me is, when a newer member gets multiples of the same answer and still does not believe it. That's a different problem that isn't going to go away. There will always be someone who figures they know more than the experts and even though they ask, you can't convince them that they are wrong. There have been a couple of posts like that lately.

Here's my Two Cents: Any member who takes the time to post a sincere thread deserves a sincere answer from any other member who feels so inclined, even if they aren't among the first responders. Especially so for newbies, posting or answering. This is not a forum for experts, but everyday collectors who just want to feel connected.

I think that some post just to get there post count up higher. I to have seen people make comments that just copy what has already been said. This is what I'm doing right now because it was all ready been said by someone else.

Exactly: You still want to make your own individual contribution, you want to feel a part of the discussion even if you're late to the game.
Don't reply because someone else, even an expert, has already chimed in and the issue seems settled?
If that was a rule, this forum would have died a long time ago.

I am pretty new to this forum but not to forums in general. I agree with Coinfrog. Quote:

I learn a lot from reading all of the responses to the threads. I like to see that multiple people especially a certain few that I consider very knowledgeable based on my follow up on the information in their responses. I was considered an expert in my field prior to retiring but never did tell anyone to keep quiet just because they want to acknowledge their agreement with me. Also when several people say something different from my opinion it encourages me to double check myself.

Mr. Frog, et. al.... You are missing my basic premise. I too welcome additional comments on that which I post, sometimes more eyes on a problem indeed can help solve the problem/question. Again I reiterate the peeve, those who just COPY in situ or in total what has been fully disclosed as a word4word response which really serves no purpose. Switch it around even, say what YOU see or think in conjunction with, not just mimicking for whatever reason that may be, higher post count, whatever! That's all.
Thanks for all the comments, I hope this may have caused some food for thought, and if the shoe fits, a change in your posting habits. Good evening all!

Ah, yet again, I am late to the discussion. I agree, Crazyb0, that responses copied verbatim from a previous poster's comment is completely unnecessary. It really does give the appearance of one wanting to pad their post count/average. That, of course, is not the purpose of the forum. The purpose is to gain and share knowledge. I will add, as an aside, using the emoji (or quote plus emoji) is encouraged by me to acknowledge the correct answer of a previous poster. I think having multiple established members agree gives the OP more confidence in the validity of the response over only one person giving an opinion. On a related note, if I notice that the OP is a new member, I try to comment with at least, because I believe that is important for helping them feel more at ease here whether an answer has been given or not.

Hopefully, I'm not one of them and a problem to other members. I've been watching and reading this thread for awhile now, just didn't want to comment, until I knew what to say. I try to be as detailed as possible, and word my responses with my own words only. I will also try to add as much information as possible. And yes, I do agree with you Crazyb0 about your pet peeve. Hopefully, it will get better sometime.
