Meow has bought and placed questionable value sports card in nice holders. Meow, finds no issue with it, as Meow collects certain types and subjects for Meow's Catsonal collection. As it fits in with the rest of the collection, and it makes Meow happy. Has no one else done this? Meow is working on a set clad quarters(as nice as possible)and plans on putting all of them in nice 2x2 holders. Meow's budget wont allow for silver sets for the time being. And as mentioned before, Meow has examples of some quite valuable collectables too. Its not all cheap junk in the Cat hoard. Meow is a die hard collector of things, and has no ebay sellers account. Its not about the money at all, just the love for whatever object it may be.

Meow bought some guardian penny holders to see what they where like. And placed the first notable finds Meow had CRH. Which where the 2 1968 d/d found on the same day. Meow will treasure the moment when that first notable find was found. And to be ridiculed over it is very sad to Meow. So Meow was a more than a bit miffed, and was willing to play the who has the better stuff game. Meow has not many cool coins yet, but has many other nifty things.

I like Meow the collector. Keep up the good work!

As for me, I just use the tried and true 2x2 stapled cardboard holders which I place in album pages. I've used them for years without issues so I'll just keep on keeping on with those. Use the older that works best for your storage system and don't be shy to experiment and try out different things. I sure what you settle on now will change as your experience and collecting options grow. Ruff!

A note on the stapled holders... Staples should be flat (or flattened) so they don't scratch the coins or plastic on adjacent holders in storage. They're also easier to slide in and out of plastic album pages that way.

I keep a pair of pliers in my box with the 2x2s so I can flatten the staples as I go.
Rest in Peace

You betcha Alpha, in the desk drawer! I have found tho that I use the larger size 2x2 for each coin, the nickel for the dime and cent works great the quarter for some proof nickels, since rims are quite sharp they cut the mylar at times if stapled too close to opening... and for the large dollars, I gave up on 2x2 and went with 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and use the 12 pocket page instead of 20 pocket. Just fits easier, nicer and since I use labeler, have enough surface to put it!

I upsize all the 2x2s using cent size for dime, nickel for cent, etc. Easier to align the coin and can better see the rims.

What about the ones that tape it self shut without staples? Don't those look cleaner, without detracting silver slivers?

Why thank you. Meow was thinking about buying some examples of bullion coins. Meow was going to buy a silver Britannia, and a Krugerrand. But every time Meow looks the price of sliver is lower. Tis hard to pull the trigger with the old paw, being afraid to over pay. Meow was looking at APMEX for its selection and prices. Where do you buy your ASEs from?

Pull the trigger on the silver cat. Enjoy the coins you want.

APMEX - I have never had issue with anything I have bought from them. I cannot say the same for everyone I am sure, but I still use them. You should also look at ebay. Or even the sale section on here for items.

And I am glad to see you made it back to the forum.

I do the same. It works well enough for me.

I like to do the same. I usually stick to just two sizes, quarter and half dollar. They handle most of my needs.

The question of where to buy silver ASEs is another topic. I have bought silver rounds from SD Bullion; JM Bullion has a similar selection and their prices are within 20 cents of each other for 2018 ASEs.

What do you do for your Ikes, use Crown size holders?

Most of my Ikes are in the Dansco or slabbed. I do have few Ikes (and similar sized coins/medals) in the US dollar sized 2x2s. They are really tight and stapling is always a challenge.
Rest in Peace

I use Provident Metals for my bullion trading, always had prompt service and no problems to date. I liked their Copper round series that they tied into silver, made for interesting collecting.

For large dollar size of 38-40mm I use the 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" in a 12 pocket page, the rest go in 20-pocket pages.
